This project focuses on creating an accessible educational resource for auscultation, the practice of diagnosing medical conditions through body sounds. Despite its importance in healthcare education, there's a lack of visual aids for students. The project successfully developed a resource covering heart, lung, bowel sounds, and bruits, which received positive feedback for its clarity, accuracy, illustrations, and level of detail. The resource effectively meets its goal of enhancing auscultation learning, potentially boosting students' confidence in the subject.

Project abstract:
Background: The human body is a complex organism that produces a variety of sounds. Many of these body sounds offer valuable diagnostic insights. By listening and interpreting the sounds, healthcare professionals gather important insight for diagnosing conditions, monitoring treatment, and providing appropriate patient care. However, despite how important it is in healthcare education, there is a need for an accessible, comprehensive visual resource to support students who are mastering this skill.
Aim: The primary objective of this student resource is to provide an accessible and comprehensive platform that supplements the traditional curriculum. This resource should give students the opportunity to reinforce their understanding and application of auscultation concepts away from the classroom. The resource encompasses topics including heart and lung sounds in addition to bowl sounds and bruits.
Results: Feedback from the two project supervisors was gathered to evaluate the effectiveness of the resource and whether it met the proposed project brief. The results indicate that the resource is successful in meeting the project brief. The resource provides clear and accurate explanations of auscultation concepts to its target audience. It contains helpful illustrations and there is an appropriate level of detail in each section.
Conclusion: Overall, this student resource has addressed the need for a comprehensive learning tool in auscultation. The combined elements of accessibility, interactivity, and practical application have potential to increase students' confidence in the subject.
