Hand Dissection
Adobe Photoshop

Client: Caroline Erolin, University of Dundee
Role: Art Direction: illustration, layout, typography, research, author
Purpose: This project entails creating a detailed line drawing of a dissected hand.
Audience: Medical pathology students
This project involves creating a detailed line drawing of a dissected hand, referencing preserved specimens and additional resources. Targeted at medical pathology students, the drawing illustrates muscular atrophy caused by neurodegenerative diseases like ALS, resulting in muscle paralysis. The distinct resting hand pose, characterized by curled fingers due to atrophy, is emphasized. The project's focus is to visually convey the effects of atrophy, especially evident in cross-sectional views, to aid in medical education.
